Tim is in considerable demand as a choral conductor, and has extensive experience of working with choirs of all sizes.

Whilst based in Edinburgh Tim was Chorus Master for the Scottish Chamber Orchestra Chorus, where he trained the choir for performances conducted by Ivor Bolton, Esta Pekka Salonen and Sir Charles Mackerras, both for the Edinburgh Festival and the orchestra's seasons of concerts. A particular highlight during this time was chorus mastering for studio recordings of Mozart's Cosi fan tutti and The Marriage of Figaro.

He also acted as guest Chorus Master for the Royal Scottish National Orchestra Chorus, preparing the choir for performances of Britten's War Requiem and Mendelssohn's St Paul.

He also had the privilege of coaching and conducting students at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) in sacred music of J.S.Bach, including the Magnificat.

Other choral societies and large-scale choirs which he has had the pleasure to work with include The Edinburgh Royal Choral Union, The Waynflete Singers, The Northampton Bach Choir (of which he was Director for five years) the Cambridge Macmillan Nurses Choir, and acting as deputy for the London Bach Choir. He also trained London Voices in 2004 for a performance of Gordon Getty's Joan and the Bells, with the Russian National Orchestra, conducted by Mikhail Pletnev.

Since 2006 he has been Associate Director of the Oxford Bach Choir, with whom he enjoys a particularly warm working relationship, presenting recent performances of Rachmaninoff Vespers, Handel's Dixit Dominus, Bach Passions, and Jerome Kern's Show Boat.

The distinguished posts he has held, at St Mary's Cathedral, Edinburgh, Jesus College Cambridge, and at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle, have provided him with substantial orcstral experience, including concerts with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, The English Chamber Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, Britten Sinfonia, The London Handel Orchestra, Charivari Agreable, The London Chamber Orchestra, and the London Chamber Orchestra. He has also commissioned and premiered important new works by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, Francis Shaw, Gabriel Jackson and Francis Grier, and led masterclasses at the Royal Academy of Music in London and in Boston, U.S.A.
